Being Modern

 What comes to your mind when you hear "That is a very modern family/ She is a modern girl"?

I presume it is a picture of a very progressive girl/boy or family, with a successful career, with all the amenities that are pictured as modern today. When we talk about someone being broad-minded, we mean someone who is open to new changes. Someone who accepts the new ideas.

But there is a discrepancy, I think being modern is about respecting choices. For our generation, a girl being independent and career-oriented is called being modern and seen in a positive and progressive light. 

But what if a girl, chooses to get married and be a homemaker? For some, they might look down upon it and be judgemental because this situation doesn't fit into the description of being "modern" in today's terms.

And that's not modern. We have to stop trying to put people in boxes. Choices are something that makes our life, life, and us humans.
