Innocence

I love watching Disney animated movies. I know many are under the impression that animated movies are for kids. Surely, they are. But, when an adult watches these movies, it just gives so much more meaning, Trust me when I say that these "children" movies are freakishly deep. It has so many components that are relevant to the Adult World.

The previous day, I happened to cross upon this song called "In Summer" from a very famous animated movie called FROZEN. This is sung by a character called Olaf, who is a snowman. Olaf dreams and sings of how it would be when the summer season comes. He talks about the beautiful blossoms, warm sun, and how wonderful an experience it would be, which he had never seen before, given that he always remains in cold surroundings. Sure, you can laugh it off by saying that he is so ignorant or innocent.

But watching that song, a thought crossed my mind, aren't we humans also innocent in the same lines?

Everything that we don't know seems beautiful and nice. It isn't just Olaf, it's us too. We find solace in our perfect future worlds without actually knowing what's there in reality. "Life will be good when I get into that college, get a job. get married, etc". Speculating the unknown can have two extreme feelings, either of utter scare or complete bliss. Talking about dreams, it is almost always perfectly blissful.

Don't get me wrong, I am not saying we shall not visualize the future, we totally should as that is the sole thing that keeps us going, the conviction to make a better future is the thing that evokes mankind. We can look forward and work for our dreams but not at the cost of our present.

This small song does invoke some thoughts, the future might or might not be perfect, what is important is when that future comes, we shall not be disheartened if it is not the exact manifestation of our mind, In many ways, it must be better than the past. Look at your today, it's the dream you saw some years back. And it's not that bad, is it?

Olaf almost melted at the fireplace but he had Anna and Kristoff, right?
Also, Olaf is one of my favorite animated characters, Maximus being another from Tangled!
